An Interfaith Invocation

Invocation
International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners’ Annual Training Symposium
July 26, 2015 Las Vegas, Nevada

Rev. Bryan J. Guiot, MA, MTh

Good morning and welcome back to Las Vegas!
Let’s take a moment to bow our heads in the presence of our Sacred.

Today we honor our work as members of the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners.

We honor our mission. Keep us focused to continue to advance the accurate determination of the cause and the manner of death through science, medicine and the law.

We honor our continuing education. Spark our desire to learn from our successes and our challenges. We are mindful there is still so much yet to learn.

We honor our daily work. Keep us faithful and persistent in our search for the truth and for justice.

We honor our commitments. Renew our pledge to do this work in the public trust always with care and with compassion for both victims and survivors.

We honor our health and safety. Protect us and those we love today and for all of our tomorrows to come. This morning we are mindful of those who have fallen in the line of duty and who have completed their time among us… our loved ones, our colleagues, our friends who have died.

We honor our impact on our law enforcement agencies and our communities. Keep us mindful of being respectful and kind to each other.

Finally, we honor our mistakes, faults and failings. Give us the courage and the strength to reach out and ask for help and support when we need it. May we always be mindful that, indeed, peace begins with me.

And so it is. Amen!
