February 2nd marks the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc celebrating the midpoint between Winter Solstice (December 21) and Spring Equinox (March 21). Pagan/Wiccan believers honor this special day of hope between the frozen and dark longest night of the year and the promise of the virile fertility of Spring. Many of our contemporary religious and cultural days are deeply rooted within the annual rhythms of Nature… Imbolc, Ground Hog Day, Candlemas Day, St Brigid’s Day… all interconnected within the season of lactating ewes.
